Dr. Petra Kern, Ph.D., MT-BC, MTA, DMtG, is a globally recognized expert in music therapy, with a strong commitment to family-centered inclusion practices. As a Fulbright Specialist (2024–2027), she collaborates with Sinfonía por el Perú, strengthening its Special Education Program and guiding the organization toward a fully inclusive model. Her work emphasizes family involvement, empowering parents and caregivers as active participants in their children's musical and developmental journey. Specializing in early childhood music therapy, particularly for children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), Dr. Kern has conducted research at UNC-Chapel Hill’s Frank Porter Graham Child Development Institute, earning the AMTA Research/Publication Award. A former President of the World Federation of Music Therapy (WFMT) and recipient of its International Service Award, she has influenced global policies, education, and evidence-based practices. Through capacity-building, strategic development, and knowledge transfer, Dr. Kern continues to drive innovation in inclusive music therapy, transforming lives worldwide.
